Is It Time To Let Go? How To Connect With Your Authentic Voice

Is It Time To Let Go?The falling leaves drift by my window, the autumn leaves of red and gold…I am reminded of  Autumn Leaves, one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Fall, my favourite time of year. Where I live, this means a time of golden light, harvest and sweaters. Markets heaping with the bounty of the season and pumpkins waiting to be carved.

I stand at my window looking out at Chester, a majestic chestnut tree that has wrapped himself around our home so that it feels like we are living in a tree house. For the past seven years he has been my annual reminder that fall has arrived. Each year I am alerted to the changing of the seasons as chestnuts pelt down onto the house, cracking on the front porch like rocks falling from the sky.

Chester always knows when it’s time to let go. I smile as I consider this simple truth and watch his leaves drift to the ground.

Let go and trust.

These four words hold your powerful transformation. Everything changes when you are willing to let go of the thoughts, feelings and emotions that are no longer serving you and trust your authentic voice.

I think of your authentic voice as the unique expression of your innate gifts, talents and abilities that arise from your soul, your authentic self.

It’s your intuition, the feeling in your gut, your inner knowing. It’s always distinctively you. It’s your brightest light, the gift you are here to be in this world. It doesn’t seek to align and agree with others, but to help you follow your own star with love and compassion. It always stands in truth.

Free flow journaling is a simple practice that will help you become acquainted with your true self.

When I started journaling consistently, I was inspired in new and exciting ways. We all have this boundless source of creativity available to us. Trust the process.

Find a quiet place where you will be uninterrupted for a few minutes. Take a couple of breaths to get present and start writing without editing for as long as you feel guided to.

Ask a question and allow your deepest knowing to flow through your pen.

  • What do I need to know about this?
  • What can I create that will turn out even better than I imagine?
  • What are my next steps in this situation?

The more you follow your inner knowing the more you learn to hear and trust it.

Even as the trees shed their leaves, within their branches is the hope of spring. So it is when we shed our old stories, we make space to reclaim our true self and step into greater possibility.
