Is there something inside of you that yearns to be expressed? Do you long to make a difference in the world but you aren’t sure what it is?
Your life purpose is an expression of who you really are and is unique unto you. It reveals itself though your distinctive gifts, talents and abilities and how you use them to have a positive impact on yourself and the world around you.
It’s up to each one of you to claim your individual brilliance and fulfill your life purpose. Using your unique talents to be of service to others enriches your life beyond measure.
When you live on purpose you feel exuberant and fulfilled. Expressing your truth and moving towards your fullest potential will not only bless your life but those around you. When you feel disconnected from your path, life may feel difficult, lethargic or disconnected, among other disagreeable feelings.
If you desire to hook onto your authentic path, then it’s essential to go within and learn how to connect with your inner voice. Your inner voice is also known as your guidance, higher self or intuition. It’s your direct line to God/Creator/Universe.
It’s impossible to hear your intuition amidst the busyness of daily life. To gain clarity, you must learn how to disconnect from what is going on around you and connect to your inner knowing.
Quiet, reflective time opens the space for you to explore what your life purpose is. Making time to dream opens your creative flow and helps you imagine a life beyond your current limitations.
Michelangelo said “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.”
You are distinct. There is no one else like you and it’s your responsibility to discover your talents and share your greatness, whatever it is.
How To Create Life Purpose Statements
Creating life purpose statements is a powerful way to articulate your purpose and bring it into physical reality. Here are three steps to create a life purpose statement.
Meditate. Contemplate. Create.
1. Meditate. Gain clarity through meditation.
This is the first step towards discovering your life purpose.
From the center of your being, in other words your inner wisdom, your life purpose will begin to reveal itself within the stillness.
You may already have a solid meditation practice but if you are new to meditation, I invite you to check out my article The Beauty of Letting Go, which includes 7 Easy Steps To Meditate.
Take the time you need to feel fully present within the stillness before moving on to the next step.
2. Contemplate. Develop focus through contemplation.
Contemplation is when you focus on an idea or object and become immersed in it. As you contemplate, you receive more thoughts and ideas about the particular thing you are contemplating. The longer you focus on a specific idea, the truth of that idea begins to more fully reveal itself. Contemplation helps you go deeper into the specific details of your life purpose.
Here are some questions to contemplate as you explore your life purpose. Allow new questions to bubble up as you ponder the following:
- What is most important to you?
- What gifts, talents and abilities are unique to you?
- In what ways do you creatively express yourself?
- What did you love to do more than anything when you were a child?
- If you could do anything and you knew you would not fail, what would that be?
- What do you love to do and when you are doing it, time seems to fly by?
- What do you fantasize doing and having?
- What do you dream of being or contributing to the world?
- Who inspires you and why?
3. Create. Define life purpose statements using “I am”.
Because your thoughts create your reality, it’s important to record your thoughts and ideas in a journal. This is the first point of bringing your life purpose into physical reality.
As you journal about the insights you receive through contemplation in step two, you will begin to see themes emerge. Make note of the recurring themes and words and pay attention to the ones that resonate with you the most. You will use these to write your statements.
Your statements will represent the impact you want to have on the world and express the essence of your life purpose. They must be crystal clear and resonate with you deeply so that they keep you focused on your path, calling you back when you feel disconnected.
Using “I am” statements is powerful. When you say “I am”, in essence you’re claiming your true nature. You’re declaring to the Universe that you’re ready to step on to your authentic path.
Generate an ever expanding list of statements to get the wheels of creation in motion.
Here are some examples to get you started.
- I am a teacher who uplifts and inspires others through the power of the written word.
- I am a person of strength, power and light who encourages and motivates others to pursue their best life.
- I am an inspiration for other women to follow their dreams.
- I am an artist who gifts the world with thought provoking music, imagery and poetry.
- I am an uplifting and effective communicator who helps others see life from a new perspective.
- I am a person who creates money easily and teaches others to do the same.
- I am an energy healer who helps others shift their limited belief systems and embrace a new reality.
These statements are your work in progress and will shift and change as you grow. Over time you’ll begin to generate project ideas and other action steps, attracting experiences that align with your purpose.
I would love to hear about your experience creating “I am” life purpose statements. Please share in the comments below or head over to my Facebook page.

Wonderful, Pamela! I’ve been teaching this morning about the importance of connecting with the deep inner silence, and the way in which that is the path to a deeper connection with the Inner Teacher. It’s lovely to read your expression of this.
