Time
Rises and
Falls
From the
Edge of discomfort
Into an abyss of
Well-being

Ever expanding
Possibilities
Emanate from
The soul of
Decision

Therein lies
The recognition of
Magnificence
Whenever
Action meets
Authenticity
Life purpose
Unfolds

A line of
Brilliant
Golden light
Connects

Awareness
To the highest
And best good
Of all who
Step
Courageously
Beyond
Procrastination.

Take A RiskDo you desire to take a leap of faith and jump fully into your ideal life but continually put it off?

Procrastination carries a lot of judgement.

When you have a longing to fulfill your dreams but can’t seem to make headway, it’s easy to judge yourself for your perceived inability to follow through. You may even feel judged by others as you share your dreams with them but fail to move forward with your goals.

Dragging your heels only serves to avoid the life you are here to live. Inaction suppresses your heartfelt dreams.

That being said, there are reasons why you may have difficulty getting motivated.

3 Reasons You May Be Procrastinating

There are 3 main reasons why you may be putting off doing things that would help you move toward the life you want.

As you read through the following list, think about whatever it is that you’re procrastinating about. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and make note of what resonates with you.

1. Fear based limited belief systems

Are you stuck in any of the following fears?

  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of success
  • Fear of making the wrong decision
  • Fear of being judged by others
  • Fear of the unknown
  • Fear of being perceived as lazy

Are there other fears that are keeping you stuck in delayed action? Take a step back and look at your fears. What new belief systems can you create to replace your outdated beliefs?

Here are some examples of turning limited beliefs into unlimited beliefs. These are just a few ideas, please use them as a guide to create your own new and empowered belief system.

  • Fear of failure becomes “Things are always working out to my highest and best good.”
  • Fear of success becomes “I am safe and trust my authentic path.”
  • Fear of making the wrong decision becomes “I trust my inner guidance”.
  • Fear of being judged by others becomes “I love who I am and move forward with confidence.”
  • Fear of the unknown becomes “Everything flows down the path of least resistance.”
  • Fear of being perceived as lazy becomes “I trust my exact steps to unfold in Divine time.”

2. Overwhelm leads to indecision

When you have a lot going on, it can be difficult to make a decision, let alone get into action. Even choosing a restaurant or movie can feel like a big choice. Have you been there?

  • What activities are causing you to feel overwhelmed?
  • What can you do to relieve your overwhelm? Is there something you can let go of?
  • Do you require help to get some of your tasks completed?
  • Do you need more information about what you desire to accomplish?
  • Would going for a walk  or meditating help you feel grounded and empowered?

Letting go of activities that lead to overwhelm opens space in your schedule and in your energy field so that you can make clear decisions and swing into action.

3. Is the timing right?

Procrastination could be your inner guidance trying to redirect you. If you’re finding it difficult to achieve your goals, it could mean that the timing is off. I love what Abraham-Hicks has to say about procrastination.

“[Procrastination is when] You’re trying to move something forward with action instead of moving it forward with the momentum of alignment.”

When you’re aligned with your inner knowing, you’ll not only know when it’s time to move forward with your plans but action will flow with ease. Plan, wait and take inspired action when you feel in vibrational alignment with what you wish to create.

There’s always an underlying reason as to why you’re procrastinating. When you get clear about the source of your procrastination and shift the underlying issues, it creates the space of possibility and supports putting your desires into inspired action.

    1. Procrastination…also known as resistance…shows up every single damn day. My job is to face it down and do my thing regardless. Some days doing my thing (writing mostly) is easy. Some days it’s like sitting for a root canal without novacaine. On those days, I wiggle and squirm, drink more coffee, fold all the clothes, and still manage to get something on paper 🙂

      • Love that Peggy! So true. Sometimes drinking more coffee and folding the clothes is part of the flow. Walking away from what we “think” we should be doing in any given moment can help us face and move through the resistance. As always, thank you for the wisdom and the smiles 🙂 xo

    2. Procrastination… so easy to fall victim to. I have a saying that helps me when I get in the “procrastination” mode that always helps me push on through: What you resist persists. Just saying that out loud gets me back in gear.

    3. Another great post! I must confess however, that sometimes I procrastinate because I’m … ah-hem, lazy. 🙂 Or, maybe another way to say it is that I’m conserving my energy! How’s that for a positive spin?

    4. For most of August I was in overwhelm and poor timing. Now I’m starting to get back on track with a schedule to exercise, meditate & write. I feel much better in just 3 days! I appreciate your examples of “unlimited beliefs”! Saving those for future use when I feel stuck again! 🙂
